Games, concepts, and real-time compositions.
This ensemble is for instrumentalists who want to expand their improvisational voice beyond traditional harmonic and rhythmic structures. Working through guided exercises, structured prompts, and collective compositions in real time, the focus is on the skills that make spontaneous music-making feel connected and alive — deep listening, real-time response, group sound, texture, pacing, form, and discovering new possibilities on your instrument.
Why this course
Open Spaces builds on a set of skills you grow over time. The course works through games, concepts, and real-time compositions — guided frameworks that balance openness with clear musical intention.
